I have at the moment a project which ist meanwhile over 25 minutes long.and VSX7 sucks.really. This speed I never achieve with VSX7, no matter which codec settings I use. When I recode a bluray with DVD Fab (2pass, 1080p, lets say 15mbps), my PC renders it with 70+ fps, which means way faster then real playtime of the bluray. My project is 1080p50, but with custom codec settings (2-pass, 40mbit,100%quality, h264.). I can`t use smart rendering because I use 50mbit Panasonic source files as well as 28mbit GoPro source files (all 1080p, 50fps). With other tools, it is no problem for them to load my CPU to 100%.so they are faster. For me the point is that it doesn`t use 100% of the CPU power.my cpu is bored as long as I use Ulead Video Studio, gets loaded between 10%-80% while rendering (no matter which profile I use). Sure it is normal that it takes longer if you render on 100% quality/speed (custom settings) for example. Share Create Video File – “Same as first clip” will render like for like. Make sure the project properties match your video files properties. I cannot comment on render times, I am quite happy with what I achieve given my older pc, but I do view my Resource Manager and recognise when the process slows, anything from 30% to 99% depending on what the encoder has to do, the point being I know VS does use all resources, sometimes…. I wont be recording to 50p again till the industry makes 50P a bluray standard allowing me to burn a disc using 50p When I rendered those from 50 to 25 the render times were ridiculously slow. I ran a test recording from my last holiday “MTS 50 fps video”, Knowing I would have to render to 25 fps to create a Bluray disc. Increasing this to 100% would slow the render but improve quality, reducing that would speed up render with a reduction in quality. When you create a template there is a Quality / Speed option generally set to 70/80% Using the new template to render in VS X7. You could take the Other …software “sample” to create a template in Video Studio. So if you are to compare then its important to use the same formats, and that is difficult when using different software………. Rendering to the same formats rather than converting will utilize the Smart Render function, reducing times. The encoder having an easy time passes the data to the CPU which ramps up beyond your 40%, give the encoder some work to do and render slows. If you render your clips to “Same as the clips properties” then render should be relatively quicker than rendering to another format. When you render a project to a video file the time taken changes with the type of video you are creating.
